Policies worth checking twice

  • Papers focusing solely on the advancement of algorithmic components, or using Web data only as an artifact (e.g., for method evaluation) are out of scope.
  • Ideal submissions must speak to research questions of societal relevance.
  • Papers using LLMs as tools to process web and social media (W&SM) data must evaluate their impact on W&SM data; otherwise, they will be desk rejected.
  • Proposing an LLM tool for a task related to W&SM analysis and testing it on non-W&SM data is out of scope.
  • Proposing an LLM tool for a task not related to W&SM analysis is out of scope.
  • Using LLMs to process non-W&SM data to draw conclusions is out of scope.
