The IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (S&P) is the premier forum for presenting developments in computer security and electronic privacy, bringing together researchers and practitioners since 1980. The 2027 symposium, held in Montreal, Canada, will feature accepted papers presented as short talks and posters, with a strong emphasis on novel research contributions across all aspects of security and privacy, including systematization of knowledge (SoK) papers.

Systematization of Knowledge (SoK) Papers
Papers that evaluate, systematize, and contextualize existing knowledge in established research areas, providing new viewpoints, challenging long-held beliefs, or presenting comprehensive taxonomies. Must be prefixed with 'SoK:' in the title and are held to the same standards as research papers but judged on value to the community rather than new results.

Policies worth checking twice
- Papers must be original and not under simultaneous submission to another venue with proceedings or a journal; simultaneous submission leads to automatic rejection.
- Authors may submit no more than 6 papers per cycle; exceeding this cap results in desk rejection of all submissions in that cycle.
- Papers must be anonymized for review: no author names, affiliations, or identifying acknowledgments; previous work must be cited in the third person.
- Rebuttals are either non-interactive (750 words, factual corrections only) or interactive (750 words + revised manuscript with new material explicitly requested by reviewers); failure to follow format leads to immediate rejection.
- Accepted papers must present both a short talk (5-7 minutes) and a poster; no exceptions.
- Rejected papers must wait one year from the original submission date to resubmit; resubmissions with similar intellectual contribution are penalized.
- Authors must declare all conflicts of interest with PC members by the abstract registration deadline; changes to author list are not permitted after submission.
- All submissions must complete the 'Ethics Considerations' field on HotCRP; accepted papers must include an 'Ethics Considerations' section in the camera-ready version.
